Set to take place between January 20th and February 20th 2011, the event will run under the headline: "One world. One family. One festival."

For visitors who are not so enthralled at the prospect of a day at the shops, there is also plenty more to enjoy about the event, including the vibrant atmosphere and spectacular fireworks displays.

The dates of the 2011 edition were published by the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment back in September, with the body explaining this early announcement would help tourism and travel firms to drum up interest in the spectacle.

"Numerous considerations went into deciding the dates including local and regional school holidays, the month of Ramadan and peak tourist inflow periods," they explained.

More than three million people got involved in the festival back in 2009, with consumers spending 9.8 billion UAE dirhams (GBP1.7 billion) during the month-long event.
